Tim Jones

Chief Executive

Tim joined Community Energy Plus as a Director in 2009 before being appointed as Chief Executive in January 2013.

As Chief Executive his primary goals are to work with communities to effectively meet the growing challenges of a changing climate, and to ensure the world is a safe place for his grandchildren. Drawing upon over 30 years of experience in charity administration and management, Tim brings high-level strategic and operational insight to shape the development and delivery of Community Energy Plus’ services.

Tim has a PhD in Political Science, an MSc in Social Research and a BSc (Hons) in Politics.

Laura Tregonning

Senior Project Manager

Laura manages the Energy Advice Team and coordinates the delivery of our energy advice projects. She also plays a key role in the development of new and existing projects and commercial services. Laura initially joined Community Energy Plus in 2009 in the role of Communications Manager, bringing with her more than seven years’ experience of working on a broad portfolio of consumer, business to business and public sector clients.

Laura has a BA (Hons) in Public Relations and has completed NEA’s Energy Debt in the Community training.

Katharine Lewis

Outreach Adviser

Katharine joined us in July 2021 and is one of our team of qualified energy advisers who provide energy-related advice to our communities in Cornwall.

Katharine has a background in education and community development, and has been working on climate change since 2018. She is a director of Cornwall Climate Action Network and is a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance. Katharine has an MA in Gender and Development and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology.

Katharine has a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness and has completed NEA's Fuel Poverty & Health and Introduction to Domestic Energy Efficiency Training; and is a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

Karen Llewellyn

Outreach Adviser

Karen joined us in October 2022 and is one of our team of qualified energy advisers who provide energy-related advice to our communities in Cornwall.

Karen has a BSc (Hons) in Geography, PGCE and Level 2 Information, Advice or Guidance (IAG) qualification. Karen is currently undertaking NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Susie Mackintosh

Outreach Adviser

Susie joined our advice team in October 2020 and is one of our team of qualified energy advisers who provide energy-related advice to our communities in Cornwall.

Susie has extensive experience working for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP); and delivering the Cornwall Together for Families programme. She brings with her a wealth of experience in engaging with families and individuals with multiple and complex challenges and helping families overcome barriers and work towards their own positive outcomes.

Susie has a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness 6281-01 and has completed NEA's Level 2 training in Fuel Debt Advice in the Community.

Martin Albiston

Energy Adviser

Martin joined us in December 2021 and is one of our team of qualified energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Martin has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Tatia Churchill

Energy Adviser

Tatia joined us in September 2023 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

With a background in community development and regeneration, Tatia has supported a wide variety of projects across Cornwall to improve economic, social and environmental wellbeing; together with experience supporting young people and those with barriers into education, training and employment. Tatia has also supported capacity building projects in sub-Saharan Africa.

Tatia has a BA (Hons) in Development Studies and Politics, and has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Abigail Clarke

Small Business and Community Energy Adviser

Having spent 5 years as an Environmental Consultant before joining us in September 2024, Abi works on a range of projects reaching out to small local businesses and landlords across Cornwall to promote the improvement of energy efficiency, reduce energy use and the transition to a low carbon economy.

Abi has an Environmental Science BSc degree from the University of Exeter and is currently working towards NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness and is currently training to become a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.

Poppy Jenkinson

Energy Adviser

Poppy joined us in September 2022 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues. Poppy also assists our Marketing & Communications Officer with research and social media content.

Poppy has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Kate Julia

Energy Adviser

Kate joined us in December 2021 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Kate has a background in research and education and has an MSc in Multimedia Systems. Kate has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness, and has completed training in NEA’s Fuel Poverty & Health and NEA's Fuel Poverty in the Community.

Amy Marianne

Energy Adviser

Amy joined us in September 2023 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Amy has experience in working within housing and support sectors, engaging with individuals and families with multiple and complex needs in the prevention of homelessness, by working with individual barriers through person centred support, planning to sustain tenancies and build healthier and happier lives.

Amy has a degree in Criminology, has completed NEA's Level 2 training in Fuel Debt Advice in the Community and is currently undertaking City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Nathanael Mayho

Energy Adviser

Nathanael joined us in November 2022 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Nathanael has a BA (Hons) in Game Art at Falmouth University and has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Wendy Phillips

Energy Adviser

Wendy joined us in September 2023 and is one of our team of energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Wendy has a wealth of experience and knowledge in providing Information, advice and guidance to vulnerable people in Cornwall within the Health and Social Care sector, with a speciality in advice for unpaid carers.

Wendy is a qualified Mental Health First Aider and Assist Suicide trained. Wendy has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness; Level 3 Information, Advice & Guidance; Understanding Fuel Poverty and Health: Impacts on Mental Health; and has completed NEA's Bootcamp for Domestic Energy Advisers.

Claire Rodger

Energy Adviser

Claire joined us in August 2022 as an Assistant Energy Adviser and is now one of our team of qualified energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with energy-related issues.

Claire has a BSc in Psychology/MSc Environmental Management and has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Anya Barbieri

Assistant Energy Officer / Project Assistant

Anya joined us in October 2024 and supports our energy advisers on a range of projects, including administering top-up vouchers, providing basic energy advice, and assisting with general office administration.

Prior to starting with us, Anya worked as a Teaching and Research Associate with the Politics Department at the University of Exeter in Penryn; and currently teaches Italian at Cornwall Council’s Adult Education Centres in Falmouth and Helston.

Anya has an undergraduate degree in English and Italian Literature, and an MA in Creative Writing. She is currently working towards NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Gilles Bisenius

Assistant Energy Officer

Gilles joined us in May 2024 and supports our energy advisers on a range of projects, including administering top-up vouchers, providing basic energy advice, and assisting with general office administration.

From growing up in Brussels, Belgium, and studying Politics and Sociology at Exeter University, then a Masters degree in Music Industry Management in London, Gilles has gained a wide range of support work experience, including work with young adults with disabilities, hospitality/customer service, and teaching assistant roles.

Tom Sterry

Office Administrator / Assistant Bookkeeper

Tom joined us in December 2023 and assists our whole team with administrative tasks and assists our Finance Officer with bookkeeping matters.

Rob Pickering

Low Carbon Project Manager

Rob previously worked for Community Energy Plus as a Senior Project Officer and, after a 9-year break, returned in September 2023 to join our energy advice team in providing advice to people in Cornwall with low carbon energy-related issues.

With a background in community development and advice work, Rob has helped establish a number of voluntary organisations covering affordable housing, sustainable food and community energy.

Rob has NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness and a Level 3 Award in Information, Advice & Guidance.

Rob is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor.

Sara Loftus

Low Carbon Project Coordinator

Sara joined us in May 2024 and supports our Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice team, providing information and support to people in Cornwall looking to transition their homes to a low carbon future.

Having been involved with the British Red Cross as both an employee and a volunteer for over ten years, Sara is currently a BRC Emergency Response Team member.

Sara has an FdSc in Emergency Management and has completed a Level 2 qualification in Environmental Sustainability. Sara is currently studying NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Clare Moody

Low Carbon Energy Adviser

Clare joined us in May 2024 and is one of our team of qualified low carbon energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with low carbon energy-related issues.

Clare has worked for over 30 years as an environmental consultant with all types of businesses and is passionate about being an early adopter of renewables, installing a ground source heat pump in 1999. Clare taught Sustainable Development and Environmental Management at the University of Bath for over 10 years and is passionate about supporting people in understanding the need to change behaviour, for all our futures.

Clare has a BSc in Environmental Science and an MSc in Entomology; and trained with Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in 2015. Clare is currently studying NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Stephen Murphy

Low Carbon Energy Adviser

Stephen joined us in July 2021 and is one of our team of qualified low carbon energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with low carbon energy-related issues.

Stephen has a background in graphics and communications, and worked extensively on energy, decarbonisation and climate issues since 2005 for Greenpeace, Christian Aid and the Centre for Alternative Technology. He was awarded ‘best individual contribution to sustainability’ at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2015 for his role in a sustainability project with the Falmouth and Exeter Students Union.

Rhiannon Pring

Rhiannon joined us in June 2024 and is one of our team of qualified low carbon energy advisers, providing advice to people in Cornwall with low carbon energy-related issues. With a background in community development, housing and health, Rhiannon is passionate about encouraging community action and resilience.

Rhiannon has a degree in Criminology, has completed NEA's Level 2 Award in Domestic Renewable Low Carbon Technologies and is currently undertaking NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Our Clean, Green Sustainable Homes Team

Sandy George

Sustainable Homes Adviser

Sandy joined us in October 2021 and works on our Sustainable Homes Advice Cornwall project, offering advice on retrofitting home insulation, low carbon heating and renewable energy systems. Sandy helps people understand how they may be losing heat from their homes and assesses suitability for home grants with a view to minimising energy use, lowering household costs and carbon emissions.

Sandy is a former Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and has extensive knowledge of property, especially historic buildings. She also has a BSc (Hons) Design & Innovation (Environment) and NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

James Miller

James joined us in September 2020 from a renewable energy background to work as a Community Engagement Worker on our Healthy Homes, Healthy People project where he helped vulnerable people reduce their energy costs, access grants and additional income, as well as accessing other services that could help them live in a warm and affordable home.

James now works on our Sustainable Homes Advice Cornwall project, offering advice on retrofitting home insulation, low carbon heating systems, renewable energy, battery storage and car charging.

James’ qualifications include a Renewable Energy M.Eng (Hons) degree from the University of Exeter / Camborne School of Mines and NEA's City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.

Working on the lottery-funded Resilient Bude project, supporting the Bude Climate Partnership which is a group of local environmental and community organisations working together to develop positive community-led climate change responses throughout the wider Bude area. The project aims to build climate resilience and reduce energy use and carbon emissions across the Bude area. It will galvanise every resident, business and visitor across all communities to build resilience against the impact of climate chage.

Jon will also support our Sustainable Homes Team, helping people make the transition to low carbon technologies.

Emma Graham

Emma joined us in September 2020 and oversees our marketing and social media activities to help us ensure our advice and support reaches and is accessible to the whole community in Cornwall. Coming to us from an admin, marketing and wellbeing background, Emma takes a person-centred approach to marketing, with an empathic approach in understanding and connecting with people, and a focus on advocacy and autonomy.

Emma holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and has completed training in NEA’s Fuel Poverty & Health and Introduction to Domestic Energy Efficiency.

Our Outstanding Trustees

Neil Hartwell

Chair of Trustees

Neil Hartwell joined Community Energy Plus as a Trustee in 2010. He lives in Fowey and works as a jeweller, and has previously supported the fuel poverty charity National Energy Action’s ten regional offices in England and Wales for seven years.

A trained psychologist, researcher and designer with a M.Phil. in Occupational Psychology, a BSc (Hons) in Economics and a BSc in Technology, Neil has worked at board level for several companies and charities and in other roles encompassing Finance, IT and Human Resources. Neil has also worked in the steel and manufacturing industries in London and Northern England.

Manda Brookman

Trustee

Manda is involved in socially enterprising business and community-based work to enable social, economic and environmental change, with wide-ranging experience in resources; sustainable tourism; environment; and housing. Manda's work centres particularly around the connection between climate, health, justice and behaviour. Manda is currently, amongst other things, the Primary Care Climate Resilience Programme Manager with Volunteer Cornwall.

Manda joined our Board of Trustees in November 2021.

Justin Butt

Trustee

Justin is Head of Legal at Eden Sustainable based in Exeter, working nationally on renewable energy projects within the UK. Justin previously worked as a Partner (solicitor) within Stephens Scown’s Renewable Energy team which involved acting on behalf of developers, landowners, funders and community benefit societies.

Before qualifying at Stephens Scown, Justin worked as part of the Green Team (Renewables) at EDF Energy, building up a broad experience of the renewable energy sector. Justin has been awarded two European Energy Centre Galileo Master Certificates in respect of Renewable Energy Solutions.

Justin joined our Board of Trustees in December 2015.

Howard Richards

Trustee

Howard joined our Board of Trustees with a wealth of experience of private sector housing services within local government. His most recent role was as a Principal Officer in the Private Sector Housing team at Cornwall Council where he worked on projects to improve the standard of private sector housing, ensuring that they meet minimum legal standards. Before Cornwall Council became a unitary authority, Howard was a part of Carrick District Council’s Private Sector Housing Team.

Howard joined our Board of Trustees in January 2013.

Steven Webb

Trustee

Steven is a blogger, author, speaker, spiritualist and motivator in addition to being councillor for Truro City Council, where he held the position of Mayor of Truro from 2021 - 2023. Steven is a trustee of the Royal Cornwall Museum and Chairman of Finance for Truro City Council.

Steven joined our Board of Trustees in December 2019.
