Introducing the Cornwall Green Home Improvement Scheme: Enhancing Energy Efficiency

Exciting news for homeowners and landlords across Cornwall! You can now take advantage of low interest loans* to finance energy-saving home improvements through the newly launched Cornwall Green Home Improvement Scheme, supported by Cornwall Council.

Addressing Energy Efficiency Needs

In Cornwall, a significant portion of homes lack access to mains gas, leading many residents to rely on expensive or inefficient heating sources such as oil, LPG, or electric night storage heaters. This reliance on non-renewable energy contributes to high energy consumption and carbon emissions, exacerbating environmental challenges in the region.

Moreover, many homes in Cornwall suffer from poor energy efficiency, resulting in increased health risks, financial burdens, and strain on public services like the NHS. Shockingly, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) indicate that approximately 20% of all housing stock in Cornwall, including over 24% of owner-occupied homes, 15% of privately rented sector (PRS) homes, and 6% of social housing, have low-performing EPC ratings (F or G).

Government Funding and Cornwall Council’s Lead Role

Funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this initiative designates Cornwall Council as a Lead Authority responsible for overseeing funded projects in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Benefits for Homeowners

With funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the Cornwall Green Home Improvement Scheme offers low-interest loans tailored for low carbon upgrades such as solar panels and insulation. Our goal is to enhance the health, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness of your home or property.

Lendology recommend that you conduct an independent retrofit assessment to establish whether any works that you may be planning to adapt your property are likely to be suitable for your property and goals. We offer free home visits and can provide independent retrofit assessments – for further information on this, contact our Low Carbon team on lowcarbon@cep.org.uk or 0800 954 1956.

* Representative Example (4% fixed interest rate, Representative 4.2% APR).  Loans are subject to status and are typically protected by a Title Restriction. Borrow £5,000 over 60 months, £92.08 monthly repayments. Total amount repayable = £5,544.96, including £20 fee for registering the Title Restriction against your property at the Land Registry. The £20.00 fee is only payable if a loan is agreed by Lendology and you decide to proceed with a loan. We do not charge interest on the fee. A Title Restriction means that you may not be able to sell your home without our permission unless the loan is fully repaid. Missing payments could affect your credit rating and ability to obtain credit in the future.
