Free energy efficiency support available for homeowners in Cornwall

Householders who want to make their homes more energy efficient but are unsure of what steps to take next can get free impartial advice from trusted local experts, Community Energy Plus.

Your Future Home retrofit adviceCommunity Energy Plus helps homeowners and landlords make informed decisions about improving energy efficiency in their homes. Their Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice Network team offers free home visits through their Your Future Home service, providing tailored advice on the most effective energy-efficient solutions for your home. They can create a step-by-step plan, outlining when and how to implement these improvements. Additionally, you’ll receive advice on grants and low-interest loans, along with solutions for issues such as damp, mould, condensation, and underheating.

In partnership with Cornwall Climate Action Network and with funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice Network team offers free, impartial low carbon energy advice and support to the community in Cornwall. Community Energy Plus are also involved in a regional consortium of community energy organisations, which is working to engage more homeowners across Cornwall and Devon in retrofitting their properties to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

The team at Community Energy Plus will be able to advise you on the suitability of your home for measures such as insulation, ventilation, energy efficient windows, heating and hot water systems and renewable energy systems such as heat pumps and solar panels. Retrofitting these measures can make your home warmer and more comfortable as well as providing healthier living conditions, lower energy costs and lower carbon emissions.

Community Energy Plus’ CEO, Dr Tim Jones explains “We meet a lot of homeowners who are uncertain about how to make the right choices in upgrading their properties, especially needing reassurance about low carbon technologies like heat pumps. Many are also looking for help in planning these changes, so that they do things in the right order. While there’s a lot of information available online, sorting out the good information from the unhelpful can be a real challenge. Our team of low carbon energy advisers are here to provide that help and guidance in an impartial, easy-to-understand way. Community Energy Plus are committed to helping local residents and communities start making the transition to cleaner, greener alternatives and we are here to help.”
