Funding secured for Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice Network

We’re pleased to announce that Community Energy Plus (CEP) and the Cornwall Climate Action Network (CCAN) have secured funding through the Climate Action programme of the National Lottery Community Fund for the Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice Network project.

The four-year project, starting in April 2024, is designed to provide advice and support for households across Cornwall who want to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The project will also work with the member groups of the Cornwall Climate Action Network, and other new, emerging climate action and community energy groups, assisting them as they work in their communities. Our team of advisers will promote energy efficiency and assist households in the transition to low carbon lifestyles, to develop local resilience in the face of a rapidly changing climate.

The funding allows us to expand our team of advisers to recruit three Low Carbon Energy Advisers, a Project Manager and a Project Coordinator. Our Cornwall Low Carbon Energy Advice team will provide advice and support to individual households and will support the work of local climate action groups.

The project aims to demystify the low carbon energy market and technologies, building confidence in the new technologies, and help troubleshoot issues as they arise, to avoid negative experiences dissuading others to act.

A programme of advice and support activities will be developed to promote the understanding and adoption of low carbon technologies and how they can benefit householders in Cornwall.

Our team will provide independent assessments and advice, enabling householders to make informed choices. The team will also strengthen the knowledge of local climate and community energy activists, so that they are more confident in helping their communities understand the challenges of the transition and identify the barriers to action. Our low carbon energy advisers will be qualified, technically knowledgeable, and can help consumers reduce the cost of carbon reductions through access to available grants.
